Life of the Cross Family the past few days....

Front laying across: Allie

We look forward to playgroup every Wednesday. It's with a lot of girls and their kids from our church. It's normally a bit chaotic but it's so fun to just get to talk to the other moms and laugh while we share all our stories from the week. We had almost everyone there this past week and we got them all lined up on the couch to take their picture. I was cracking up because all the kids were about losing it and ready to jump off the couch and Weston is just chilled....sitting there with all the kids leaning on him just in his own world. He makes me laugh! Notice there are 7 boys and only 1 girl!!!

Melissa (my old roommate from Baylor) and her husband Ryan flew down to see us for the weekend. We had a great time. We took them to the lake on saturday and did some mean kneeboarding. Then grilled out some steaks on Saturday night and played Sequence. The girls killed the boys! Then took them to our church and of course to eat some Mexican food on Sunday before they headed home. Hopefully we didn't scare them away from having kids one day! We had a lot of fun with them.

Last night Mallory and Jason and Malakai spent the night with us. They came down this past weekend and took a mini-vacation to Sea World. Mamu and Popa and their friends, Bill and Betty, were also in town. So everyone came over and we ate burgers together. It was a lot of fun to see everyone. Weston loved getting to play with his cousin!

Here are a few pictures of him lately. Too cute for words.....he is just chunkier than ever. Logan and I both are complaining about our backs hurting lately. I wonder why!!!! We are trying the sippy cup some...he mainly just wants to suck on it. He did drink out of a straw this morning....that was pretty cute. He is still working on the crawling.....he can definitely get to where he wants to go, but it might just take him a little while to get there. Look at the belly he has to lift off the ground!!

These are the fish at church....there is a big fish tank and he LOVES it. He loves to try to touch them!

I found him like this one day after his nap....he's little feet were sticking out of the crib rails underneath the bumper. It was really funny. He was laughing about it but he was really stuck! Those fat little legs couldn't slide out!

Pics of the Family

Here's some pictures with all the family while we were there.

Kiersi is so fascinated with Weston. She loves to be right there with him.....giving him kisses and whatever else she can. Kayden could care less and is normally too busy to stop and notice him.

Weston with his uncle John....he made him laugh all weekend.

Weston with his Papaw Platt. Papaw sure did love on him. He didn't want to put him down.

Monday morning before the funeral the boys went out in the pasture to help get a calf that had gotten out of my Papaw's pasture. We went over to watch the show. It was a sight to see. Logan actually had the rope and I guess he knew what he was doing swinging it around....because he actually roped the calf!! I never knew I married a cowboy! He had the rope on the calf and then was trying to hold it while my dad was trying to get the rope off. Meanwhile Greg was trying to hold all the other cows away. We were all cracking up watching and trying to stay away from the scary bull that was coming towards us while we were on the golf cart. It was a morning to remember.

My Grandpa Martin

My sweet Grandpa Martin passed away on Friday morning. He is now home with the Lord and healed. He had been getting worse the past few months. They moved him to a nursing home about 2 weeks ago and then he fell on Monday and broke his hip. He had been in the hospital all week and just didn't get better. He was my first grandparent to lose....so that was hard of course but I know that he is better now and happier with the Lord. Despite the circumstances it was so great to spend so much time with my Martin side of the family. Some of them hadn't even seen Weston yet, so of course he was the highlight. It was so great to just talk to all of them and be with them that much. I am so thankful for my extended family. Here is a pic of my grandpa and grandma with Weston. I'm thankful he got to see Weston before he passed away.

Grams and Pops Visit

Grams and Pops came to visit to see him and celebrate my birthday. They had a great time getting to spend time with Weston. Mom brought him a little 6 month birthday cake. We put it in front of him on Thursday night and he just started digging his little hands in it. It was really funny. He tried to taste the icing a few times.....just made some funny faces. He did manage to get it all over his face and clothes though.

We went out to dinner while they were here. Mom took me shopping for my birthday on Friday and would you believe that my dad actually babysat!!! We gave him lots of instructions and he did great! He played with him for a little while and then got him down for a nap all by himself!!! I was really impressed but do you know how much MORE fun shopping was??? I was actually able to try things on and take my time and focus on what I was doing. It was great.

Thanks mom and dad for coming down here and making my birthday special!!!

So we started more baby food yesterday. We started with green peas. He made the funniest face ever when he first tried them, but he did great and ate them. I think he'd eat whatever was on the end of that spoon!

6 months old

I can't believe I have a 6 month old. Time sure does fly by when you're have fun. We went to the doctor this morning for his 6 month checkup. He's doing great. He had all the nurses and even his doctor smiling and going on and on about him. He finally is back on the charts!! He weighed 20 lbs and 14 oz (95th percentile) and was 27 inches long (50th percentile). He finally didn't pee everywhere at the doctor's office. We covered him up while he was on the scale so no one got sprayed.

He's already been eating oatmeal (pics down below) and definietly ready to start tackling some veggies and fruits. He can scoot a lot on his tummy now. He can turn a circle and tries to reach really far to grab things. He has a fascination with my hair lately and loves to grab it. He thinks any animal noises are the funniest things right now....especially when his dad does them. He is still really laid back and just seems content doing just about anything. He is a blast. We love him SO much. Here are a few pics of him lately.

I bought him this little swimming pool at Wal-mart the other day. He loved playing in it in the backyard. The water was freezing cold from the water hose but he didn't seem to mind....he just splashed his hands the whole time. I think he might have had his trunks a little low.....I couldn't help but take a picture of his cute super long crack!

Bath time just gets more and more fun. I got him a few bath toys that his cousins had that he had really liked. He loves to be squirted with the little basketballs. He squeals and just keeps splashing around in the water. It's really cute.

Weston painted a picture for his dad the other day while he was at work. I think we might have gotten a little carried away with the black paint. It kinda got everywhere.....but we had a lot of fun. Looks like he has a little beard in these pictures.

We got to meet Erika and her boyfriend, Chris Snapp, for dinner last weekend. We met them at the Gristmill in Gruene. It's a great restaurant but better than that was getting to see both of them. I miss her so much and it was so fun to see her loving on Weston. Chris is great. We both really liked him a lot and are anxious to get to know him even better. She gave Weston some fun books to read. Chris has got a very very special one!!!

Feeding him oatmeal has been so much fun. It's so fun to put a spoon in his mouth and feed him something. He gets so excited and it's just so cute to see him opening his mouth. He really seems to be doing good with it.

I turned 28 on Tuesday. I guess I realized that day that once you are a mom there isn't a single day that is "all about you" anymore. You don't take breaks from being a mom...it's constant....365 days a year. He is so worth it but it definitely takes some getting used to. We had a great day though....just really different from the other birthdays I've celebrated. He wouldn't take an afternoon nap for some reason....he screamed for about an hour and then finally slept for about 30 minutes. I knew dinner was going to be a disaster but Logan insisted that we go out. We went to Outback and we felt like we were in the outback wrestling an alligator or something. He was so squirmy and fussy. We were both exhausted when we finally got all our food crammed down our face as quick as we could so we could get out of there. Of course there was people all around us and we felt bad for having the "loud" child. But it's all about the memories right??? While we were "trying" to eat dinner, Logan asked me if we were having fun yet and if I was enjoying my birthday dinner....I just smiled.......then he asked me if I was sure we wanted 4 of these!!! It was a great birthday though....got several sweet cards in the mail and lots of phone calls from my family and sweet friends and of course a priceless poem from my brother-in-law.
