We planned a ski trip for the days right before the kids went back to school. It was pretty good timing because most other schools had already gone back. We decided to go a little farther this year and head to Colorado. We went to Purgatory and stayed a few feet from the ski lifts. It was SO much fun!!! The kids did great on the drive. I had little bags they opened every few hours to try to make the drive a little more fun.
Dinner in Durango on our way in!
Can I tell you how fun it is to finally be in a stage of life that ALL of our kids can ski and do it together for the most part!!! The boys all are doing great and basically just take off. Lucy catches on so quick and did really great this year. She skied some blues by the end.
We made brought a lot of food and came back for lunch every day. It was so nice to be so close. Because of Covid there wasn't hardly any restaurants opened but we did manage to find pizza one night.
Lots of games at night
We had access to the condo's swimming pool and hot tub. That was a super fun treat!!!
6 person lift and we filled it!!!
Sadly there was a winter storm coming in as we were getting ready to leave. We were going to be driving right into it so we decided to leave the afternoon we finished skiing and start our drive home. We left around 4pm and just kept driving. It was a bit terrifying at times.....snow coming down and freezing to the windshield. At one point our defrost wasn't working and it was pretty scary. We just kept trekking on and made it home around 4am. Crazy. We haven't done that in a very long time but the kids did great. I think Lucy slept almost the entire drive. Thankfully Logan and I got a coffee in Amarillo and it was enough to keep up both awake the rest of the way home.
We woke up to snow all over the yard and house! It was beautiful!
