Ruidoso, Weatherford, and My High School Reunion

We went to Ruidoso last week for our family vacation. We had a great time. The weather was beautiful and it was so peaceful being in the mountains. The first day we went hiking up on a trail that wasn't too far from town. Weston had a great time riding on his dad's back and then getting down and throwing rocks in the puddles.

The Aspen trees were just goregous. They were bright yellow and I'm guessing in their peak changing time. I haven't ever seen it so pretty up there before. I think it's definitely my favorite time of the year to be there.

One afternoon we went up to Grindstone lake and once again threw rocks in the lake. Who knew throwing rocks could be so fun?
Weston is a huge Elmo fan. He says "Melmo" and points to the tv when he wants to watch him. I will say Elmo was a life-saver for the long car trip. Nothing else will keep his attention except Elmo. I guess it keeps his dad's attention too. I think we know all the tunes to that video....we've been humming them to each other.

On Monday we drove to Alamogordo. It's about a 45 minute drive from Ruidoso. We went to the zoo and a park there. It was a small zoo and we didn't really know what to expect but it was perfect for Weston. He got to roam around and walk the whole thing. He never really even got in the stroller. All the animals were out and about and fun to see. The mountain lion was our favorite and we actually got to be really close to it....almost scary close. He was eyeing Weston for awhile. There were only about 2 or 3 other families there while we were there. It was great to be at a zoo like that.

After the zoo we went to this city park in Alamogordo. It was this HUGE wooden playset that the town had built. It was amazing. All the little forts and castles connected by steps or tunnels or slides. It was a lot of fun to play in. Weston had a blast and I think his dad had even more fun that him.

He found this trapeze that you run and jump up on. Weston couldn't handle how funny it was to watch Dad do that. He was laughing so hard he fell over. It was really cute to watch.

On Tuesday, Logan played golf at Inn of the Mountain gods. It's a really nice golf course there in Ruidoso. Weston and I rode along in the golf cart and watched him play. It was pretty cold but we had a good time watching him. Here's some pics of him in action.....looks just like Tiger don't you think??

Weston got out of the cart some and tried swinging some of dad's clubs. It was a bit scary at times but he had fun doing it.

A cold front came in that night and they actually got snow up on the ski mountain! Of course there wasn't any in town but it was fun to at least see it up on the mountain.

We went hiking again on Tuesday. We drove up to Lake Bonito and hiked on one of the trails past the lake. It was pretty cold that day so we didn't last too long. But all the trees and scenery was just beautiful. We had a great time.

We of course got some more rock throwing in at the river. He always has to pick up the biggest rocks!

We drove back to Weatherford on Thursday. I had my high school class reunion this past weekend so we went there for that. Melody and Greg and the girls came over on Thursday too. Weston had fun playing with his cousins....well most of the time. He doesn't seem to like to share with Kayden much....those two act like brother and sister! It's pretty funny to watch them in action. Weston got to ride on the pink tricycle.....he took a small tumble.

Molly, my mom's dog, is always great entertainment.

I hadn't seen my family since my birthday....so my sweet, caking making extradorinaire sister made me a birthday cake. It was pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing. YUM! I wonder who dug into it first????

These are the only 2 pics I have of my reunion right now. We had a great time and a really great turnout. Everyone was doing great and it was great to see everyone. We went to the football game Friday night then to the famous Pizza Place....where we all hung out during high school. Then on Saturday we had a picnic with all the kids. Saturday night we had a dinner at a place in downtown Fort Worth. Fun weekend!

They are pouring our slab!!!

Well the day has finally come! We are getting concrete! We passed inspection this morning and now the concrete trucks are all lined up waiting for their turn. It's going to take a lot of concrete. Weston LOVED seeing those trucks and watching the guys work. I'll get some more pics of the finished product later today.

Got to see My Girls

Fun surprise this past weekend....Jen and Blair came into town to see their new niece....Mikayla. She's precious and so tiny!!! So we go to all go have dinner on Saturday night. We went down to Pappasitos....very yummy! It was a lot of fun to be with my girls!!! (and their hubbies aren't so bad either :)

And...last week I got to see my San Antonio girls. I met Christy and Ashley for lunch on Thursday. We had a great lunch despite the yucky humidity. The kids had a blast running around and carrying the ketchup bottles from table to table. It's a great place to take kids....it's called Big'z...on 1604 and Blanco. It has a huge area in the back for them to run around. All of the kids are growing SO fast!! We missed Aren...she couldn't make it that day. Here's a pic of the kids....

Big Brother

The title is correct.....Weston is going to be a big brother!! We found out several weeks ago that we are going to have another baby. We are both (I mean all 3 of us) are super excited about another addition to our family. I'm almost 13 weeks now and everything is going great. I'm due on April 15th. So they'll be just over 2 years apart. We should find out boy or girl in about 5 more weeks. I am really excited for that day to come!!! Logan is predicting a girl and I'm predicting another boy...we'll see who wins :) I've had several sonograms and baby is doing great. I have been feeling much better the last few weeks. I definitely have to have my nap though :) Weston's naptime has become my naptime too. Here are some pictures of the last sonogram.

I told Logan by making Weston a big brother t-shirt. When Weston greeted him at the door when he got home from work, he was wearing it. I think Logan was quite surprised!

My parents came in town several weeks ago. I did the same thing with them....except I had to make another shirt because I accidentally dried the other one and ruined it :) They too were surprised and excited!

We told Logan's family over Labor Day weekend when we flew up there to visit. We had Weston in that same shirt and he ran up to them in the airport. It was pretty cute. They definitely weren't expecting it!

Home Depot on Saturday

Home Depot has a kids day the first Saturday of every month. We went this past weekend and Weston had a blast. It was actually even a different day than normal....they called it safety day. He not only got to build his own wooden piggy bank but they had firetrucks, ambulances, and police cars up there too. He got to crawl all through them. He had a blast. He got his very own Home Depot apron too. The best part of the whole morning was that it was FREE! Some of our friends from church were up there too. The boys had fun being in the fire truck all together.

New Haircut

His hair was getting really long....actually touching his shoulder blades when it was wet in the bathtub. So I took him to get another trim. He did great sitting up there like a big boy. Of course there are still many curls left....but it's much better not hanging in his eyes. He's as cute as can be! I think I'm going to try and cut it next time :)

Update on House

Well with all the rain we've had, things have gotten off to a bit of a slower start. But that's ok...because there is progress! We are hoping to pour the slab by the end of the week. Here's some pictures of it with the forms up. Weston was helping his dad hammer in the temporary pole. He had a blast playing in between all the beams.

I love this video because it shows what I get to see everyday. Logan is the best dad. He is so patient with Weston. When Weston steps in and grabs his tools and tries to "help", Logan just lets him and tell him how great he's doing. It's so fun to watch. He learns so much from his dad! I know he (Logan) was so tired that night and wanting to just get done so we could go home but yet he let Weston get right in the middle of things and "help" him :)
