Weston Turns EIGHT!

So once again this year Logan came up with Weston's birthday party idea.  We had a rocket party!  He thought it would be fun to have all the kids make model rockets and then launch them :).  So here's the pics.....
Aunt Mel once again did a REALLY cute cake...

We had the solar system (in the correct order of course) hanging down from the garage ceiling :)

It was Sunday afternoon so we just had nuggets and snacks :)

This is my only "rocket" food.....fruit skewers.....doesn't it just look like a rocket to you?!?!

So here's what happened....the kids played and the parents put the rockets together :)....HA!

About mid-way putting the rockets together Weston cut his finger with a pocket knife.  Not good.  It was deep enough to hurt pretty bad.  So it took him quite awhile to calm down from that....not fun when it's HIS birthday party.  So we all finished the rockets, tried to do cake....he wasn't quite calmed down for that, so we went straight to launching.  That seemed to cheer him right up!

So went across the street for launching time.....it was REALLY windy so Logan pointed the launch pad directly into the wind so the rockets wouldn't fly all the way to Fort Worth.  It worked and most of them came back down about where we were!

The problem came after about 10 launches....our poor little launch pad got tired and hot.  It wouldn't work very well after that.  Several kids sadly didn't get to launch :(.  So we headed back for cake and ice cream!  And finally our birthday boy was all smiles!

Do you think Charlie's been here?!?!?

We did gifts after everyone left.  He was SUPER excited about his new fishing pole from Pops and Grams.  Pops taught him about each lure and what they all do.  He was very interested!!

New lego set....and lots of science experiments.  His friends know him well!

And thankfully the finger has healed up just fine!! No stitches or glue!
For his actual birthday we went and had lunch with him at school.  Caleb was already back in class but we were plenty entertained with the others......

this makes my heart smile :)

And this crazy kid had all the girls smiling and entertained......trouble is what i'm thinking....he's 4 :)

This is what his daddy got him for his birthday.....a shotgun.  Yes a shotgun.  He was super excited.
He invited Aubrie to come with us that night and we went to Cracker Barrel (his pick of course) to celebrate.  He ate a plate full of pancakes and as much bacon as he could get his hands on.

Tyson got Aubrie to hold his hand and he was in heaven :)

We love this boy!  He is changing a lot and I see him turning into a "boy" a lot these days.  We can talk to him more like a peer than ever before.  He is interested in older things and is fun to be with.  He is doing great in school and is making good choices.  We are very proud of him!!!
