More Cross Country, Playground, and Mountain Biking

Every meet Weston kept improving.  He is doing great!

So this has been a major project that I haven't posted about.  The school asked me to head up a playground makeover.  So a group of moms did a lot of painting on the concrete to make it brighter.  Then the dads had a workday and added a walking path, swing set, 9 square, volleyball court and soccer field.  It looks SO much better!!  Logan has been up there a lot finishing up the swings with hardware and making them work right.  Lucy is SO excited to start swinging!!

Heidi and I spent hours working on these for our girls for homecoming.  They looked adorable...however Lucy thinks she can't run in them and that is hard for her.  She prefers athletic clothing all the time!

Weston ran for student council and made it.  His poster slogan (thanks to aunt mel) was awesome!

He got me a mountain bike for my birthday and I love it!  We finally got to go ride bikes on the lake trail together.  It is NOT easy but I made it!
Day off school so we headed to the bowling alley :)

I'm back to baking!  My starter is so much stronger now so my loaves are turning out way better and fluffier!
We decided it was time to say goodbye to the boat and start looking for a different one.  It was pretty easy to sell.

My 40th!

Labor Day I got to celebrate with my family and then I got some yummy cake for my birthday during the week with my favorites.

Then the weekend after my birthday I got to have my favorites to the lake to celebrate.  It was SO much fun.  We ate (Melody cooked all my favorites), drank lots of coffee, went running, sat on dock, went on boat, and laughed a LOT.  I so loved my time with everyone!!  40 isn't so bad!!!

My boat driver came out and let me have one last run.  It was pretty chilly but I survived!

Cross Country and Labor Day Weekend!

Weston decided (after a lot of prompting from his mom) to give cross country a try.  He has done GREAT!!!  The first practice he ran more than he's ever run at one time.  He has continued to improve and improve over the season.  This was his first meet over in Fort Worth.

And this was his reward afterwards.....Whataburger :)
Back to the lake for Labor Day weekend....

Tyson was SO determined to learn to slalom this summer.  He tried and tried and FINALLY got it!!!  I was so proud of him!!  He's 8 years old and slaloming!!!

I love this picture.....2 youngest ones talking about their tackle boxes and getting their lures ready

My little pirate....

So this was definitely a day to remember.  We were out on the water about to quit for the day.  I thought we were done and just doing one last run.  Logan decided he wanted to surf at the very end so he was out doing it.  Lucy and I think on of the girls had already changed and put their regular clothes back on but were in the boat with us.  All of a sudden there was smoke (or I thought) coming out everywhere inside the boat.  It started happening so fast that we all started totally freaking out.  **Side not....the weekend before a boat had actually exploded right by the marina on the lake.  They had fumes built up and it exploded.  So that was in our minds.**  So Melody and the kids started bailing out of the boat as quick as they could.  It was crazy.  We were all panicking because we didn't know if the boat was on fire or what was happening.  Lucy was crying and kids were everywhere in the water.  While that's going on the music on the boat is blaring.  First it's praise music and then it's the Star Spangled Banner.  Later this was hilarious.....at the time it was all tragic and scary!!  Meanwhile I just turned the key off without even slowing down.  Logan was behind the boat and almost ran into the boat because I stopped so abruptly.  I finally jumped in and didn't really know what to do.  I stayed there with Logan and we were trying to figure out what was going on.  It was definitely steam but we didn't know why.  We got back in the boat and went to the front of it.  No one came for awhile and then a TINY John boat came to tow us.  It was sorta hilarious.  The boat was tiny and there were 3 men in it.  They hooked up to our boat and slowly got us back to the dock.  Thankfully we weren't too far from it.  We got the boat in the slip and saw radiator fluid all around.  Later we found out a hose had slipped off and radiator fluid went everywhere.  We weren't real sure what caused it but it was super scary!!!

What a weekend.  I wouldn't trade it for all the memories but it was crazy!!!  Even though the boat didn't work we all had fun fishing and being together.
