Kansas - 4th of July!

We drove to Kansas for the 4th.  It was so much fun.....BUT there is a story before we get to that.  On the way we took our flat bed trailer because my sweet inlaws were letting us "trade" mattresses with one  they have on a guest bed that is super nice!  We love it every time we come and stay and sleep on it.  Ours is getting older and has divots where we both sleep every night.  So we loaded it on the trailer with kneeboards, fishing poles, life jackets, etc all for the lake.  We were a few exits from exiting the I-35 when Logan said "what's was that?" as he looked in his rear view mirror.  Well we quickly realized it was our MATTRESS on I-35!!!  It had come undone on the trailer and flew right off.  We quickly pulled over but it was on the most dangerous part....blind curve and no shoulder.  It was pretty awful.  We tried to figure out what to do for a second and next thing we knew a car drove over our mattress...yes really....and then an 18wheeler basically obliterated it.  There were springs and fluff from the mattress flying everywhere.  I ran alongside the shoulder and gave our number to the lady who ran over it to make sure it didn't damage her car.  Then I carefully pulled the rest of what was left of the mattress off the road and gathered the kneeboards that had flown everywhere.  It was a mess.   Logan was pretty upset and mad at himself for not checking the straps....but we were SO thankful no one was hurt!!!
We finally got to the lake house late that night.  It is north of Wichita so it was a long drive!!  We had such a great time at the lake.....fishing, tubing, jet skiing, eating WAY too much of course, smores, fireworks, etc.  It was a great 4th!

sweet girls :)

They had a boat parade on the lake and of course Judy signed us up!!  She bought all kinds of decor for the boat and the kids to wear.  We just laughed and laughed about it.  Jason and Logan were loving their life in this picture.

So around the entire lake all the kids said the Pledge of Allegiance over and over.  Caleb was the ring leader (right up his alley) and did amazing.  It was hilarious and everyone watching on their docks loved it.  We actually won 2nd place!!!!

Some were kinda over it by the time we made it back....

My cutie pies......gosh I love them so much!!!

Such a fun trip.  And yes, my sweet inlaws insisted we still take a mattress home.  We strapped that puppy down really really well.  It didn't move an inch.  It was good to finally get home though!!
