South Padre Island

We've been talking about going to the beach for awhile and we finally went this past weekend. Logan's concrete guy let us use his condo at South Padre for the weekend. We got there Friday afternoon. And let's just say it was quite a weekend. We learned two really big lessons: #1 - It's not vacation for us if we take the boys with us #2 - It's SO much easier to be at home for this "season" in our life. It was the smallest things became so very hard while we were there. Let's taking unloading the car for example. Our condo was on the 3rd floor. Well we couldn't just leave the boys in some random condo while we carried all our stuff up. So I had to stay there inside with them while Logan made about a bizillon trips up and down the stairs carrying all our stuff up. Not fun for him. And it's not just a few bags when you're traveling with 2 little boys.

We went to the beach basically right after we unloaded on Friday. Weston immediately ran right into the water and waves. He loved it! He wasn't afraid (of course) of any of it.

It looks like Weston has Caleb in the choker hold in a few of these pictures.

Logan came up with this......he would pull Weston on the boogie board across where the water was washing up on the shore. Weston loved it. It was great entertainment.....everyone was watching them. I think Logan got a pretty good workout from it.

Sleeping was interesting....the first night Weston crashed out on the couch because he hadn't had a nap that day. We were all excited about how easy that was. Caleb is always easy and went right to sleep. So we're all celebrating and thinking how great it was. Then around 1:00 in the morning Weston starting crying and coming down the hallway. Logan got up and tried to get him back to sleep for 2 hours....then I tried and finally got him back asleep around 4 in the morning. He woke up at 6:15.....fun night. Saturday night was much better though.....he slept all night. We decided to come back a day early. It was really nice to just get them both home to their own beds!

Oh, also we timed it perfectly with the weekend we chose because it was the Harley Davidson weekend too! There were motorcyles everywhere! And they aren't the quietest thing.....they scared the boys (both boys) to death when they would rev up their engines. We decided to eat out Saturday night and on our way back there was a rally on the main street of the island. They had the entire street closed off. We had to just sit there and watch the parade of motorcycles for about 45 minutes. Yes, real fun......exactly what we were planning for our evening.

On Saturday, we got in the sand more and played a lot. It was hard with Caleb because he kept wanting to just put his hands straight in his mouth with sand all over them. He didn't seem to mind too much though. These pictures are funny because Caleb is covered and I'm trying hard to keep him from sucking on his fingers and Weston is melting down and is in desperate need of a nap!

No bathtub.....bath time in the kitchen sink! Caleb didn't seem to mind though.
Overall we're glad we went. It's really pretty down there too. The sand is so soft and the water was really pretty. It only took 5 hours from our house. So we're thinking of going again but in like TEN years from now :)
